Phelps Dodge Philippines was recognized by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and the Tarlac Provincial Blood Council for its continued support of voluntary blood donation efforts during the 10th Annual Awarding Ceremony of the Gawad Serbisyong MaYap: Dugong Buhay Awards held at the Tarlac City Plazuela Hall.
The recognition honors 532 private companies, local government units, schools, and other blood donation partners, including Phelps Dodge, for their “unwavering support extended in the promotion of the noble deed of voluntary blood donation in the province of Tarlac…” contributing to efforts toward an adequate and safe blood supply in blood centers to help save lives.
Over the past 6 years, Tarlac’s blood donation partners have contributed approximately ₱53 million to support the National Blood Services Program. Consequently, the province has remained one of the most significant contributors to PRC’s blood service network, ranking first nationwide in the PRC Blood Samaritan Program, an initiative that provides support to indigent patients requiring blood transfusions.
For Phelps Dodge Philippines, the recognition reflects the company’s commitment to supporting communities beyond its core business services over the years. In 2023, the company was able to collect 77 blood bags, equivalent to 34.65 liters of blood. This was followed by 107 bags (48.15 liters) in 2024 and then 122 bags (54.9 liters) in 2025. In 2026, the company collected 49 blood bags (22.05 liters) through bloodletting activities, including the August 13 drive at the Phelps Dodge Training room.
