In a strong show of commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement, Phelps Dodge Philippines proudly participated in a Tree Planting Activity on May 17, 2025, held at the Chapel of the Two Hearts, Barangay Imok, Calauan, Laguna. Themed “Unite for Nature, One Tree at a Time,” the event brought together passionate advocates for nature, including Professional Electrical Engineers (PEEs), local organizations, and government partners. This meaningful initiative was a collaborative effort between Phelps Dodge Philippines, the United Professional Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, the Rotaract Club of Manila Metro, and the Department of Agriculture. Together, they aimed not only to promote environmental care but also to deepen relationships within the engineering and local communities.
The team successfully planted a variety of fruit-bearing and native trees, including 20 malunggay trees, 10 Philippine mulberry trees, 5 atis trees, 10 camachile trees, and 20 lakatan banana plants. Each tree represents a step toward a greener future and a symbol of Phelps Dodge’s long-standing advocacy for sustainability. Beyond the tree planting, the outreach program also extended support to the local community. In partnership with the Department of Agriculture, 20 sets each of ampalaya, mustard, okra, and hot pepper seeds were distributed to local residents, encouraging home gardening and food sustainability.
This initiative reflects Phelps Dodge Philippines’ unwavering commitment to protecting the environment and uplifting communities through purposeful action. By working hand-in-hand with engineers, youth leaders, and government partners, the company continues to grow its impact—one tree at a time.
