Building Wires

Our state-of-the-art Phelps Dodge (PD) THHN/THWN-2 Building Wires are approved by UL: Thermoplastic insulated wires, under UL File No. E-54448.

In 2008, Phelps Dodge scored another first when it introduced Alumilite™, PD’s 8000 series aluminum building wire THHN/THWN-2, 600V 90°C Dry or Wet, PVC Insulated, Polyamide (with Flexiglide™ slippery nylon) Jacketed. This was patented under number 2-2012-0002.

Phelps Dodge introduced the following innovations:

2001 – the first pre-assembled house wiring system, the revolutionary Building Wire Harness
2004 – the first lead-free THHN building wire
2005 – lead-free cable tray rated building wires that are easier to install, and can save up to 30% of wiring costs
2006 – low-smoke, halogen-free cables, and fire rated cables
2008 – Alumilite™, an aluminum building wire with slippery additive (Flexiglide™) to meet the needs of its clients (Patent 2-2012-0002)
2014 – Metal-Clad (MC Cables) with either copper or aluminum 8000 series conductor
